Monteverde, Costa Rica—Today Complejo de Aventura Lodge held the grand opening of their latest attraction, a mountain waterslide which at 1,583 feet is the longest in South America. Made of concrete and volcanic ash, this slide reaches speeds of up to 45 mph.
The rough surface of the slide adds an element of ruggedness sure to please thrill-seekers. Riders must wear helmets and strap on leather “diapers” to keep their bathing suits from getting ripped off.
“I thought I was going to fly right over the edge!” said Marissa Thompkins after exiting the ride, visibly shaken but smiling and laughing.
